Vancouver/Victoria/Whistler, BC. (June 2006)— BookBuffet Founder and Executive Editor, Paula Shackleton has partnered with Bacardi Canada to launch some fun social mixers involving books and dating.
"I discovered that over 60% of the population in Whistler is between the ages of 19-30 and these are exactly the people I wanted to target for our village wide reading program! I'd seen Speed Dating in Los Angeles in 2002 and had wanted to put a literary spin on it. This was the perfect chance," says enthusiastic Paula Shackleton
Ms. Shackleton has partnered with Bacardi Canada who will supply a free drink ticket to attendees using their delicious flavored vodka series to make Shackleton's literary themed cocktails; Hemingway Shooters, The Emma Martini and In Cold Bloody Marys.
Local celebrity authors will be in attendance. John Vaillant, 2005 nonfiction Governor General Award winner for The Golden Spruce (Random House 2005), and sexy young Nathan Sellyn, author of Indigenous Beasts (Raincoast Books)
