July 13, 2003 — A study by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Chancellor and education Professor Jack Miller maps literacy in America. Drawing from U.S. Census data, newspaper and magazine circulation rates, and bookseller and library resources, the study ranked the top 64 U.S. cities with a population over 250,000.
The top 10 cities are:
