Literary Speed Dating
Speed dating is getting a new literary twist courtesy of BookBuffet.com. Online dating and speed dating have been around for a few years, but LSD will give people an excuse to flex their intellectual muscle with this fun focus. Not a literary giant? No problem. You'll be using our LSD dating cards [just a quickie mock-up] with fun ice-breaker questions.
"We can't think of a more fun way to meet people, discuss books, and who knows—meet your soul-mate, or in the least start a mixed book group, and keep reading, discussing and enjoying the vicarious pleasures of books," says BookBuffet President, Paula Shackleton.

Tips
Be bold. It doesn't matter what you read, just that you have interesting insights and opinions.
Don't be a snob. The point is to meet people and have fun. Don't go screaming for cover when you sit down and discover the other person's favorite author is Ayne Rand or J.K Rowling.
Likewise, if you've got a shrine to Joyce in your bedroom, go easy on the person who says, "Ulysses who?" - think of all the unexplored territory there will be!
Smooze with everyone, and take the opportunity to meet our celebrity authors.
Meet Authors - Win Prizes

Local authors such as John Vaillant, The Golden Spruce, (Random House, Knopf) and Nathan Sellyn, Indigenous Beasts (Raincoast Books). John is being heralded as the Canadian equivalent of Krakaur or Junger (Into Thin Air and The Perfect Storm) And Nathan writes sexy, daring and raw fiction reminiscent of Raymond Carver (Where I'm Calling From).
Win books for your new book group and other prizes.
