Author Birthdays: London, Murakami & Mosley
Today is the birthday of Jack London (1876). Sailor tramp, gold miner, and novelist, London spun tales of adventure in the far north (The Call of the Wild) and the far west (Sea Wolf).
Today is also the birthday of Haruki Murakami (1949). One of the leading voices of contemporary Japan, Murakami burst onto the international literary scene with his quirky mystery, A Wild Sheep Chase (1989). His most recent work is a collection of stories, After the Quake.
Today is also the birthday of Walter Mosley (1952), the author of the acclaimed Easy Rawlins mystery series. With RL's Dream, a novel based on the life of blues legend Robert Johnson, Mosley proves that he is equally adept writing outside the mystery genre. Click here for more information on Walter Mosley.
