August 7-10: The 23rd Steinbeck Festival takes place at the National Steinbeck Center and additional locales in author John Steinbeck's hometown of Salinas, California. Village Books in Pacific Palisades, California, hosts a book signing for Michael Jacob Rochlin, author of Arcadian L.A., three inisghtful essays on Southern Califronia urban history and architecture.
